Katowice and Institute
The institute is near a new Qubus hotel (well known in Katowice).
It takes 10 min. by foot to get there from the railway station.
The buses from Pyrzowice airport stop also near the Institute.

Travel to Ustron
-
From Katowice
we organize a bus on the 5th of September. The main meeting point is
near the entrance to the Institute of Physics of University of Silesia
at Uniwersytecka Street 4 at 5.00 p.m.
Otherwise, you can take a train form Katowice to Ustron Zdroj.
In the afternoon there are only two connections, at 15:31 and 18:34.
The ticket costs ~15PLN (~4EUR) and the travel takes 2 hours.

From the airport "Pyrzowice" in Katowice
the connection with Katowice is not bad. There are buses to Katowice,
it takes 50 min., see here
and "Access" there.
It costs 20PLN. There are in addition mini buses (the same price),
they go when there are more than 5 passengers.
Taxi costs around 100PLN (not officially) and 150PLN (with a bill) (<40EUR).

From the airport "Okecie" in Warsaw (10 km from the city center)
1. you can take a bus number 175. It takes around 20-35 minutes to get to the
Central Railway Station (leave the bus near Marriot Hotel). Tickets
can be bought either in the kiosk at the airport (2.40 PLN)
or from the bus driver (slightly more expensive).
Note, in the public buses you need a ticket for your luggage.
2. Taxis are available directly at the exit doors
(ignore persons in the arrival hall or outside offering a ride).
The taxi price depends on the company (1.40 - 2.60 PLN/km day rate).
Taxi can be also ordered on phone: 9191 (MPT Taxi), 22 6777777 (Merc Taxi),
22 6444444 (Sawa Taxi).

From the Central Railway Station (Warszawa Centralna) in Warsaw
there are trains to Katowice every hour during the day.
The journey takes 2.40 and it costs around 90 PLN (2nd class) and
125 PLN (first class).

From "Balice" airport in Cracow
There are special buses directly from the airport to Katowice.
It is probably the best way.
You can take also a public bus number 192 or 208 to the main railway station.
It costs 2.20PLN if you buy a ticket in a kiosk or 2.50PLN if you buy it
from the bus driver
(you need additional ticket for your luggage). The travel takes
around 30 minutes.
Taxi costs around 50PLN(<15EUR).

From the main railway station in Cracow
you should take a train to Katowice. The travel lasts up to 1.5 hour
and costs around 12PLN(~3EUR).

Current exchange rate is 3.8 PLN(Polish zloty)/EUR.
Money exchange points ("KANTOR") can be found at the airports, main railway
stations, and city center.
Credit cards are usually accepted in restaurants and shops.
